Story
For 31 weeks, we believed we were having a healthy pregnancy and were excitedly preparing to bring our beautiful baby boy home 💙. Then, on 15.06.2026, our world changed. An ultrasound discovered that Emmett had a severe Vein of Galen Malformation, which had caused heart failure, hydrops and damage to his brain. The following day 16.06.2026, our beautiful Emmett was born via emergency caesarean at 31 weeks and 4 days, weighing 1.89 kg and measuring 41 cm long.
We were given two precious days with Emmett. We spent them beside him in the NICU, holding him, talking to him and memorising every tiny detail. On 18 June 2026, Emmett passed away peacefully in our arms. His life was heartbreakingly short, but the love he brought into our lives is immeasurable. He made us Mum and Dad, changed us forever and will always be our beautiful boy.
In Emmett’s memory, we are fundraising for Bears of Hope so families facing pregnancy, infant and child loss have support during the most unimaginable time of their lives. Nothing can prepare you for leaving hospital without your baby, especially when only days earlier you believed you would be bringing them home. We want Emmett’s legacy to help ensure that when another family’s world changes in an instant, they never have to go through it alone 💙
